Hush Hush Handspun Hootenany

(It's an exchange questionaire...no other news today)

1. How long have you been spinning? What skill level do you consider yourself? about 7 years. Advanced.

2. What kinds of yarn do you create (singles/2-ply/3-ply/art yarn)? All sorts, but especially like spinning soft fine fibers, usually 2 or 3 ply depending on their future use.

3. What do you spin with (spindle/wheel/both)? mostly my wheel, occasionally with my book charkha and drop spindles.

4. What are your favorite fibers to spin with? Anything you don't like? Love anything soft...I have tons of alpaca and merino. I'm really excited about other fibers like seacell and bamboo right now too. I don't like scratchy things.

5. Who are your favorite crack dealers fiber sources (etsy or otherwise)? Mendenhall Wool Ranch,
Humble Hills/Genopalette

6. What kind of fiber do you want to try? Cormo, pygora, rambouillet, ingeo, buffalo

7. Is there any techniques you would like to learn? fun creative art yarn techniques

8. Do you dye fiber? If not, would you like to learn? yes I dye

9. Do you have fiber prep tools (and like to use them) or would you prefer ready to spin fiber? Have handcards and wool combs, currently coveting a drum carder

10. What do you do with your handspun? What projects have you completed? Knitting (especially gloves and socks, have finished one shawl, working on another one as well as just starting a sweater), weaving--scarves mostly

11. Are you in need of any spinning gadgets (WPI Gauge, threading hook, etc)?

12. What colors "fall into your shopping basket"? Any colors you just can't stand? Love rich deep colors, jewel tones, reds, purples, blues. Not so fond of yellows.

13. What is on your wheel/spindle right now? I'm in the middle of spinning up 5 and some ounces of llama/merino/seacell batts which is paused for a beaded silk/alpaca yarn. There's super thin yak-silk on my charkha and too many things on my various homemade spindles.

14. What other crafts/hobbies do you have? weaving, tatting, flameworked glass sculpture, woodworking, multimedia sculpture, playing music (piano, flute, bass)

15. Other than crafts, what are you passionate about? the outdoors (especially hikes when I can bring knitting/spinning), cooking/eating (although that's kind of a craft/hobby), reading

16. Do you have an online wishlist? Amazon wishlist

17. Is there anything that you collect? fiber, yarn, fabric (not purposefully)

18. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What magazine subscriptions do you have? Hmm...The Icelandic Fleece by Beth Abbott, Creating Original Hand-Knitted Lace by Margaret Stove. Some other books on Amazon wishlist. I've also been eyeing Aurora Alpacas "Here Be Dragone" shawl pattern and am always happy to get my hands on any Niebling patterns. I get Interweave Knits.

19. When is your birthday? March 11th

20. What book or movie character do you most resemble in personality? Um...

21. What is the climate like where you live around this time (need to know for careful shipments of anything meltable)? Hot

22. Tell us one weird fact about yourself!
I raise silkworms and am currently taking them to work every day so I can feed them during lunch.
